Sophomore Follow-up

Thursday, May 12, 2016

Before I started my sophomore year, I wrote a letter to myself future self in regards to my upcoming year. (If you're interested in reading it, I've linked it). So now, I wanted to do a follow-up in regards to it.

Yep, another year has passed; it went by faster than ever. I sort of lived in the moment but not totally. I kept wanting to fast forward to the weekend...but I guess that's natural. I did though try to take in the little things of life as much as possible. I started a memory jar of just little things that happened throughout my weeks at college. I'm excited at the end of the year to read them all.

I wouldn't say I reflected much though; I always seemed to have so many thoughts running through my mind. I did however, use my camera lot more. Over winter break I invested in a new lens and I couldn't be happier. I love being able to take such beautiful portraits of other people, as well as placing my camera on a tripod and taking pictures of me and my boyfriend. I even started an instagram (@katekoutures). I've had fun messing around with that.  I must say, I take my theme really seriously....I know I'm one of those people!

As far as motivation goes, I completely failed that! I found that the quality of my school work suffered. I rushed through it all just to get it done and in order to hang out with friends. I did the bare minimum and it showed on tests....opps! I definitely need to get my GPA back up next year!

But on a positive note, I did find that special someone that "makes me laugh hysterically, helps me out in times of need, and simply makes me wake up with a smile on my face." I couldn't be happier with how my "love life" has turned out.

Finally, I did learn to let loose a little more. There's one day in particular that sticks out in my mind. It's the day I "lost my dog" and I'll just leave it at that.
