A Hiking Adventure

I just cant get over this weather! When I was little, I used to love the winter months because I could spend all the time in the world playing in the snow. Now that I'm older, I'm a lot wiser....nothing can beat summer! Lately I've been just chilling in my hot tub after work, just taking in the gorgeous weather. I love just listening to music outside while the sun beats down on me. It's so freeing!

Last weekend, I got see my boyfriend after being separated from each other for a month. We had the quite adventurous weekend and I wanted to share it with you. I am going to separate it into two posts, because I have so much to say!

I couldn't tell you how happy I was to finally be able to put my arms around him and give him the biggest hug. He was tanner than ever and I had forgotten how blue his eyes are! To my surprise, he took me out to dinner. I figured we would just have fast food or we would have something simple like a sandwich. Instead, we went out to good ole Apples bees. Like always, we both ordered a steak. Surprisingly, it was the worst steak I've ever had. It had no flavor or seasoning. Normally, I'm all for Applebee's steaks, but not this time! We then ended our night by cuddling and watching Secret Life of The American Teenager.....my favorite!

Bright and early, we work up the next morning since our day was going to be jammed packed. He had previously mentioned that he had a surprise adventure for me. So at 10 am we headed off for it. I had a slight idea that it would be outdoors since my boyfriend told me to bring gym shoes.

We drove on this winding road a mist a forest of trees. I then knew it was some sort of hiking. When we arrived at this state park, I was in awe! The lake was breathtaking with big beautiful rocks that you can sit on for fishing. I originally wanted to take a picture of us sitting on the rocks, but I never got around to it. Instead, we headed out on the trail that wrapped around the lake. The mountains/cliffs were lush and green. There were tons and tons of people, but I felt as if we were in our own little world as we held hands. It was so cute though because there were wedding chairs set up overlooking the lake.

We then came to this path where it lead to some train tracks. Fun fact, I've always wanted to shoot photos on train tracks. I've told my boyfriend that many, many times....so he was nice enough to pose for pictures.

If you read my post about the struggles of blogging photography, then this would be the perfect example of disappointing photos.....not in focus, awkward poses/faces, and weird shadows! Oh well! At least they're still kind of cute. Someone even stopped and asked if we were filming a video since we had a tripod set up.

We continued our walk along the train tracks and came to this spot that over looked the lake. I felt like I was on top of the world! We then decided it was time to walk back to our car if we were going to have to go to the mall. **Note to self, don't wear converse when doing physical activity....they don't grip well.

I've gone Christmas shopping with my boyfriend before, but never an actual shopping date with him. I think it's so cute going shopping with your boyfriend and getting his opinion on clothes. The only thing I actually ended up buying was a baseball tee.....how adventurous, right!?

We then ended our afternoon by just relaxing and snuggling on the couch before we had to get ready for a wedding.......which will be my next post!

  1. I totally feel your pain on the awkward poses/out of focus. Sometimes a pose will look so good in your head and then be so awkward in reality. Especially when you're working with a tripod and timer! These pictures of you two are super cute anyway, my favorite is the first kissing one!

    1. YES!! You nailed it right on with in your head vs reality. That's one of my favorites too! Thanks for reading Becca
