It's no secret that weddings are my favorite event to attend. I love getting all dolled up with my hair, makeup and putting on a fancy dress. And I can't forget about the accessories! All of this to watch the bride and groom say I do and dance with each other first time as husband and wife. So the fact that I got to bring my boyfriend to my first family wedding, I was beyond excited.
Rewind a little bit to Friday night. For the last time this summer, my boyfriend came down for the weekend. That night two of my girlfriends from high school all decided to go out with our boyfriends to Chili's for dinner. This was the first time that I've officially met their significant others. I was excited to see how they interact with each other, but also how my boyfriend interacted with them. All and all it was a pleasant evening. We all seemed to get along and were able to small talk.....yay!
The next morning, my boyfriend and I went to my local beach to rent kayaks. You may have recalled a month ago that I went kayaking with him in his hometown. I was hesitant at first, but enjoyed myself once I got moving. So this time, we got a tandem kayak. It was so nice to sit in the same boat together...plus then I didn't have to do all the work. It was alot different experience this time, because we had this HUGE open water infront of us instead of just a tiny river/lake filled with algae.
To our surprise, it started raining. I straightened my hair that morning, hoping I could just style it real fast before the wedding, not really planning on getting wet. But after a few minutes I got over that frustration and just enjoyed the PEACEFUL morning, floating around with my boyfriend.
Then we went back to my house to finally get ready for the big night. My dress and shoes are both from Lulus . Lately, I've been obsessed with that store. If you need a dress, that's the place to go; their selection is endless. And let me tell you, it took WAY longer than I anticipated. My hair did not corporate the way I wanted it to, but oh well. I look presentable enough!
The ceremony took place outside of a hotel venue. There were cute little chalks boards with hand written messages on them. Stringed lights hung from a gazebo structure. Babies-breath rested in mason jars on the brick aisle. Cucumber mint water was gulped from a glass picture. And I'm sure you guessed it, purple was the wedding color. It was your typical outdoor/garden atmosphere. I wish I had gotten pictures of the atmosphere, but I kind of just lived in the moment.
The sun though beat down, until a light rain shower surprised us. Everyone held their ceremony cards above their heads, hoping to protect their precious hair. Once again, my hair had no hope. But then it slowly passed and the bride was able to waltz down the aisle to "A Thousand Years" by Christina Perri. This has been the third wedding I've been to with my boyfriend that this song has been played....is it a sign? lol
So for cocktail hour, I tried to snap a few pictures with my boyfriend. However, the blogger struggles were real: harsh shadows, out of focus, and awkward poses. I swear every time I'm dressed nice, this always happens.Oh well. At least we got one or two decent shots.
And then the party began! We were served the typical four course meal. My favorite part was the mint chocolate cake. That's right you heard me right: MINT chocolate cake. I asked my boyfriend prior to me picking a flavor, which one would I get, and he knew me so well. He knew I can't turn down ANYTHING mint.
The bride and groom's first dance was to "From the Ground Up" by Dan & Shay. Of course I was head over heels, because this has been my obsession. This is honestly my FAVORITE part of any wedding. It's so sweet watching the two love birds stare deeply into each other eyes. My boyfriend then pointed out that this song has been played at the last two weddings.... I had no idea.
Sadly, we only got to slow dance with each once. That was the part I was looking forward to most. Unfortunately the rest of the music was club music....neither of our styles. And I kept wanting to fast forward to when the dance floor would open up because I was looking to spending some quality time with him. So as you can see, I was quite disappointed. Oh well! guess there's always next wedding...whenever that will be. We then all went outside to make an aisle as we held up sparklers.
And we ended the weekend with my boyfriend playing golf against my dad. Of course my dad lost....I knew that would happen. My boyfriend ended up finding a lost golf ball and giving to me as a memory/present....how sweet lol. And then we said our goodbyes as he left for his way home. I'm so excited that that was our last goodbye. The next time I'll see him will be move in day for college. Ahhh I can't wait to not be in a long distance relationship anymore.
This week I'll be on a tropical vacation, so please bare with me as I figure out my blogging schedule. If I'm lacking posts, that will be why. (cross your fingers that that doesn't happen) Too-da-loo friends!
