Junior Year: Letter To My Future Self

Thursday, September 08, 2016

It's time for another year at university. I'm finally at that half way point in my school career. Last year, I did a letter to my future sophomore self. I honestly thought it was so fun to make "goals" for myself, and then read it at the end of the year to see if I accomplished them. I like that it's in a different format than a typical checklist. So I hope you enjoy!

Dear Future self,

And just like that, you're down to your final year as a university student. As a freshman, you thought your school career would go by slowly. But now it has gone by faster than ever. You're officially now in that final stretch of schooling. Pretty soon you'll be an adult.

I hope you landed that internship that will exceed your expectations. I know you didn't use as much material related to your major as you thought you would at your previous internship with BBB, so I hope this one will put you in the right direction in regards to your dream career as a buyer. I'm sure you made a lasting impression at the career fair with the classy outfit you picked out and those business cards you had printed.

I know as a sophomore, you tended to spend more time with your boyfriend than makes plans with other friends. It can be hard at times because all you want to do is see that sexy boy and tousle his hair, but your friends are important too. So hopefully you made some plans to either go out to eat, go to the mall, or just catching up in each others' rooms.

Most importantly how is your blog doing?  Freshman and sophomore year, your posts tended to lack. You found yourself lacking inspiration or found yourself pulling out your hair because you couldn't come up with new ideas for posts (well maybe that was a little dramatic). Your blog "succeeds" the best when you're engaged. What did you do with your spare time? Was it spend taking naps or just casually surfing the web? Instead, I hope  you took that time to  reply to comments as well as writing SINCERE comments on others' blogs. Most importantly, you better have become more confident with blogging. You spent money on a new tripod, so USE IT! Dress yourself in a cute outfit, find a fun location, and just snap away!  Fashion posts are your favorite, so don't put them off any longer! And you better have invested in that new camera. You were eyeing it for a while!

Did you FINALLY, tell the people you are closest too about your blog? I know it may be weird for them to know certain details that maybe you have not shared with them, but WHO CARES. They won't judge you for it, and if they do, they're not worth your time.

Cheers to a great summer, and see you next year as that long waited for, SENIOR YEAR!!!

  1. I loved this! I think it would be worth doing at any stage in your life, not just in college. I was the same- it took me ages to tell people 'in real life' about my blog, I was so shy! Thanks for sharing this. :)
