October Pumpkin Spice: Sammy Dress

Thursday, October 20, 2016

How is it that October is practically over!? I could've sworn that the leaves were changing colors just yesterday. I was your typical kid who loved the wintertime. Playing in the snow until my fingers were raw and had no feeling was my life. Now, I'm a huge fan of the foliage. Orange and red leaves are my favorite :)  Pretty soon though, they'll be all fallen, brown, and just plain ugly. But let's not think about that. Instead let's just ahh over pumpkins, flannels, and lace up booties. Let's face it, they make the perfect Instagram photos!

Trench coats are my favorite for this time of year. Not only do I feel like the badass Sherlock Holmes, but I also feel as chic as Serena Van der Woodsen. I own a navy one that I adore because frankly I would wear navy everyday if I could. However, I've come to realize that the blue clashes with jeans. Even if I add a colored scarf, it still looks a little off. So I've been on the hunt for a fall colored trench coat.

I was so excited when I found this burnt orange trench coat from Sammy Dress. I thought it would be the perfect contrast with blue jeans. The shipping was super fast. It came just in time for the fall weather!  Unfortunately, it hit me at an awkward length because I'm on the shorter side. The coat's hem is a tad bit above my knees. I do however like it paired with dresses. Having our legs shown makes the world of a difference for us petite women. No longer do I feel like I'm swimming in it like I did with pairing it with jeans.

I ordered the coat in a size small and it was still a bit big. If you're small chested it's a bit baggy. However adding a scarf conceals that somewhat awkward fit. This coat will not keep you warm as warm in the winter months, but it's perfect for this time of year. Black buttons are sewn on the side seams to give an added touch. And best of all there are pockets to store your fuzzy mittens! For more outerwear inspiration, check out Sammydress's blog as well as twitter.
